Inadequação da ingestão alimentar de vitaminas lipossolúveis por idosos assistidos em uma associação de aposentados e pensionistas da cidade de Lavras-MG

Food is a determinant of the health situation. An inadequate dietary pattern in the elderly, especially the inadequate consumption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K) can be related to changes in metabolic, immunological, hormonal and antioxidant processes. The clinical and subclinical deficiencies of these vitamins can result in pathologies and health disorders in the long term. The objective of the present study was to analyze the intake of fat-soluble vitamins, and to identify possible inadequacies in the consumption of the elderly assisted by an association in the municipality of Lavras - MG. Two 24-hour reminders were applied to men and women aged 60 years or over. Weight and height measurements were also performed to calculate the Body Mass Index (BMI). The study included 51 individuals with a mean age of 71 ± 6.84 years, of which 50.98% had a nutritional diagnosis of overweight. It was observed a frequent consumption of regional products based on wheat flour, low variety in the intake of fruits and the group of vegetables appear on average only once a day, in addition, high rates of inadequate consumption of vitamins were identified. fat soluble. The findings indicate that the intake of vitamins A, D, E and K is below the recommended in this population and investments are necessary to increase the consumption of adequate food in order to guarantee health and reduce complications during the aging process.
